What to Expect
Consultation (30 minutes): I offer a free consultation. This is the time to get the answers to some preliminary questions like: “Is therapy right for me?” “How can therapy help?” “What is therapy like?” “Is what we talk about confidential?” It is also a good time to get a sense of who I am, my style, and what it would be like to work with me on an ongoing basis. If it doesn’t seem like a good fit, I will be happy to provide referrals to someone who may be a better match.
Ongoing psychotherapy (50 minutes): We will typically start by meeting once a week at a fixed appointment time. Individuals may elect to come more than once a week depending on their needs, goals, and the availability of appointments. I encourage an open dialogue throughout your therapy to discuss whether anything needs to be addressed or changed, including but not limited to shift in focus, the rate of changes being made, my style, session frequency, or ending or taking a break from therapy.
If we decide to continue beyond the initial consultation, you will be asked to complete some new client paperwork (see New Client Forms). We will also find a time to meet for future sessions.
